Abstract : This manuscript focuses on the concern of power loss minimization and voltage profile improvement in the
transmission network by incorporating Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) and Static VAR Compensator (SVC) devices
individually as well as simultaneously. UPFC-Power injection model is used in this work, which can be easily incorporated
in the steady state power flow models. Sensitivity analysis is used to identify the location of UPFC and Fuzzy approach is
used to find the location of SVC. Moth-flame Optimization (MFO) algorithm is used to find the control parameters of UPFC
and size of SVC for power loss minimization in a better manner. The proposed MFO technique is tested on standard IEEE
14-bus system and the results are discussed.
