Divergence In English-Punjabi Machine Translation

Abstract
Interlingua and transfer based approaches to machine translation have been use in competing and complementary ways. In the field of machine translation, translation divergence is a decisive research topic. In this system source language is decoded into target language. The development of machine translation system ought to identify the divergence issues between two languages. For the apt categorization a detailed study of divergence issues in machine translation is utmost important. The key aspect of this paper is to point out the various types of translation in English and Punjabi. To examine the different aspects of translation divergence in English and Punjabi, we take Dorr’s classification of translation divergence as the base of our research.
