Abstract : The ever increasing growth of internet, e-commerce and online banking transaction present the Nigeria banking
industry with new challenges on how to check identity theft, electronic fraud and ATM Card theft. Security for financial
systems in the country are becoming more and more important, the number of system that have been compromised is ever
increasing and authentication plays a major role as the first line of defence against intruders. This paper presents how iris
technology can be applied in the Nigeria banking industry as a means to authenticate the identity of its customers.
